On the Rocks (Kevin Johnston 2002)
On the Rocks (Kevin Johnston 2002)
Last night I slept out on the Jetty.
When I need to clear my head I go there.
All my worries, they escape me
And disappear into the air.
Then my thoughts, they start to surface.
They float there like a ship out on the sea.
I can see them off the coastline,
Headed home, sailing back to me
CHORUS
As the world keeps spinning in circles, round and round going nowhere.
I can feel her turning and churning, where she stops nobody cares.
I’m never leaving, no, I’m moving, if it takes everything that I got.
Don’t want to hear nothing but the ocean, and spend my life down here on these rocks
On the Rocks
I can’t read the morning paper,
And television just brings me down.
Too many people perched in precarious places,
Trying to stabilize their shaky ground.
So I just stare out in the darkness.
And let that buoy sing to me.
That ringing bell is just like music to my soul.
Clanging out my favorite melody.
CHORUS
There must be something in the water
That takes effect real late at night
Maybe its the sounds of the things I cannot see
That makes this crazy world seem all right
Sometimes it may take an hour
Maybe it takes all damn day
But this jetty melts away the madness from my mind
And the salt water purifies my brain
CHORUS
On the Rocks
