A Pirate’s Confession

(Johnston 2005)

Hello Carolina, its good to hear your name

Been a while, but as fate would have it, I’ve come back this way

With a heart so heavy and a soul near sank.

Weighed down by these high sea adventures, and buried treasures and wooden planks.

CHORUS

I never needed the money or fame,

And I would give it all back, if I could get back my name, yes, its true.

Caught in a sea of emotional doubt,

And I’m saying I’m sorry till the ink runs out of my pen.

How will I end - this Pirates Confession.

Never was pirate, its not the life for me

Looking down from an ivory tower, and what I’d never be.

Now in desperation, I’m down on my knees.

I’m the man with the coldest heart, in the deepest part of the darkest seas.

CHORUS

Its not an easy letter for a man to write

But I’ll admit that tonight I’m scared to make this wrong a right.

And I still can’t fathom, how Your grace could find.

A solitary ounce of good, when no one could, in my worthless life.

CHORUS
